How To Increase Your Confidence In Hand Therapy | Quick Guide for Occupational Therapists
How to increase your confidence in hand therapy – no matter if you are a new grad occupational therapist or an experienced OT new in hand therapy.
It's perfectly normally to feel a drop in your confidence level when doing something new. The key thing is to keep trying AND I strongly believe when you change how you think about each situation.
There's always something to learn in "failure" and the faster you learn what that is, the faster you will feel successful.
The worst thing you can do is to play the self comparison game and only focus on the negative. It's ok to have negative thoughts. It's ok to compare yourself to others. It's what our brain wants to naturally do. It's our job to become fully aware of when that happens, and make a INTENTIONAL shift in our thinking to not stay in that place.
The faster you learn to do that – it is a LEARNED SKILL – the less frustrated you will be. And the more successful you will become due to the actions that will follow.
