How to Support & Treat a Painful Hand or Finger Injury

In hand therapy, you are going to work with people with very painful injuries. It doesn't matter if it's the whole hand or it's one finger. Hand injuries can be extremely painful. This is because we have the most nerve endings in our fingers.

Understanding our patients, how to touch them, handle their hands, how you communicate what you are doing, how you communicate what you are going to do, and gaining their trust is EVERYTHING. This is a real training that I had with my team and a real patient that was very painful after a crush finger injury.

Most courses just teach about the bones or the injury, but we really need to connect person to person as therapists. Unfortunately, it's often forgotten as the world gets busier and busier. And I promise you, though, it's totally worth slowing down for.
