Re-making a splint
Gosh…ever gotten patient with a splint that doesn’t fit well?
It doesn’t matter why….could be a lot of reasons like patients couldn’t tolerate, they couldn’t get into the right position….all sorts of reasons.
No biggie…can you step in where they left off and make adjustments?
Of course, you can if you were armed with the skills and confidence to do so!
Here’s someone after surgery…and it’s a difficult one, to say the least…but he needed to wear his splint all the time especially at night o help maintain the position. Well…it turns out he wasn’t wearing it!!
WHY? Because he said it was so uncomfortable and left him with a blister.
No problem! I got you! Let’s make a few adjustments and make it so it has a better fit. Watch the video if you want a few tips on what you can do.
Material can make or break whether you can make adjustments or not. Here’s a tough material…not my favorite…but who cares? As long as you can work with the material and make it become a better fit for the patient :)
